Johnston Builders Ltd. is looking for a motivated Health & Safety candidate for a 2026 Co-op job.
This role is based out of our St. Albert office, Alberta. Occasional travel (30%-40%) to sites
within Western + Northern Canada will be required.

respected privately-owned contracting firm providing construction management, general contracting
and consultant services across Western Canada. JBL specializes in a number of construction sectors
that includes urban retail complexes, light industrial, hotels, medical facilities, educational
institutions, community centres, adaptive re-use and restoration, and sustainable construction
projects for Private, Public and First Nation Clients.

Responsibilities include:
• Conduct regular inspections of the work environment.
• Participate in Health and Safety Committee meetings.
• Assist in development of standard operating procedures and best practices.
• Perform “Toolbox” educational sessions/safety meetings.
• Arrange training for employees based on requirements and needs.
• Assist coordinator with policy and program updates
• Assist coordinator in onsite reviews and inspections
• Assist in document creation, review and control.
• Assist in the development of internal training courses
Ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
• To be considered for this role, you’ll need to have successfully completed one year of OHS
diploma program.
• Computer skills including the ability to competently operate, Bluebeam / Adobe ProX, Office 365
(SharePoint, Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint and email at a proficient level).
• Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal. Quick and accurate typing speeds are
ideal.
• Organized and able to multi-task to meet scheduled and unexpected deadlines.

• A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
Compensation and benefits:
• The hours for this position are 40 hours per week.
• Competitive hourly wage.
