Johnston Builders Ltd. is looking for motivated and experienced Plumbers, HVAC Technicians& Sheet Metal workers and labourers to join our team for a 14-to-15-month project. These roles are based out of Whitefish Lake First Nation - Atikameg Alberta.  

 **Priority will be given to members of Whitefish Lake First Nation - Atikameg community who reside in WLFN - Atikameg**

What You’ll Do

 

Depending on your trade and level of experience, your responsibilities may include:

  • Installing, maintaining, repairing and servicing plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and related mechanical systems.
  • Reading and interpreting commercial and light industrial construction drawings, specifications and shop drawings.
  • Completing layouts and determining appropriate materials, measurements, work sequences and installation methods.
  • Installing and repairing piping, valves, fittings, fixtures and related plumbing components.
  • Installing and servicing HVAC equipment, ductwork, ventilation systems and associated components.
  • Performing preventative maintenance and inspections, including checking system operation, filters, controls, refrigerant levels and other mechanical components where applicable.
  • Diagnosing system issues and completing routine repairs and maintenance.
  • Inspecting completed work to ensure it meets project requirements, applicable codes and quality standards.
  • Participating in quality assurance, quality control and safety documentation as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized and safe work area.
  • Supporting other members of the site team and performing related duties as required.
What You Bring

We are looking for people who take pride in quality workmanship, work safely and contribute positively to the team.

Journeyperson candidates should have:

  • A recognized Journeyperson certification in Plumbing, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Sheet Metal or another applicable trade from a provincial or territorial apprenticeship authority; or
  • For experienced, non-ticketed applicants, verifiable industry-related trade hours relevant to the position being applied for.
  • Previous experience in commercial, institutional, multi-residential and/or light industrial construction.

Apprentice candidates should have:

  • Registration as an apprentice in Plumbing, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Sheet Metal or another applicable trade with a recognized provincial or territorial apprenticeship authority; or
  • Relevant industry experience with documented trade hours for candidates pursuing apprenticeship certification.

All candidates should have:

  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and shop drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to work independently with appropriate direction and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A positive, professional and approachable attitude.
  • A commitment to working safely.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s licence is considered an asset.

Full-time employment averaging 40 hours per week, with opportunities for overtime.
